When Alison (Ali) Sours stepped into the role of CEO for Graham Health System (GHS) earlier this month, she was no stranger to the organization and its mission. Sours takes over for Bob Senneff, who retired in December 2025. The Community New Brief recently spoke with the Tremont, Illinois native to learn more about her background, her mission for the west central Illinois healthcare organization and more. Graham currently operates a health clinic on Macomb's east side, and is opening a second clinic on the west side of town this summer.
What does it mean to you to be the new CEO of Graham Health System? What were you doing before you accepted this role (and when did you begin your duties as CEO)?
Being named the new president and CEO of Graham Health System has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life, and I am truly honored to have this opportunity.
I've been with Graham for 7.5 years. Prior to this role, I served as Graham's Chief Operating Officer, and prior to that, I was the Vice President of Quality.
How did your education prepare you for this role? What experiences do you bring to this role that will make your role (and GHS) successful?
My undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and my graduate work in the Executive Masters in Business Administration at Bradley University prepared me for the role through a strong foundation in critical thinking, interpersonal skills, research technique and exposure to global industries and business structures.
The most important experience in preparing me for this role is routinely working with a diverse group of people and how to support the unique needs of very talented professionals.

What are your goals/plans for GHS?
The goal of GHS remains unchanged. We will remain focused on being an independent rural health system that provides high-quality healthcare in the communities we serve.
What's your first big plan or project as CEO?
Completing the Ambulatory Surgery Center project in Galesburg.
What makes for a vibrant health care organization, and how can you and your staff achieve that?
A vibrant health care organization is one that is patient-focused first. We use our dedication to patients to determine where and how to innovate. We achieve this at GHS by building teams of professionals who are equally dedicated to patients and communities. As an employer, we support the growth of our employees through education support and internal development programs.
What's the most exciting part of your job?
The most exciting part of my job is the people I get to work with and the variety that every day brings.
When you're not working, what do you like to do?
I am the founder of the Tremont to Peoria St. Jude Run and have been the chair for over 10 years.
