Bushnell City Council Approves to Increase Water Rates

At the Jan. 19 meeting of the Bushnell City Council, aldermen approved increasing water rates in the City of Bushnell.

The water rates for meter sizes one inch and smaller will increase by one dollar, from $4 to $5; 1.25 to 1.75 inches will increase six dollars ($4 to $10); two inches will increase $16 ($4 to $20) and three-four inches will increase $36 ($4 to $40).

The council also approved a bid from A.C.E. Roofing and Construction to replace the roof on the Dean Street water plant at a cost of $8,732.77, and for Slater Construction to replace windows at City Hall for $6,440. A motion was made, and approved, for a new fire alarm system to be installed in the Rec Center by Getz at a price not to exceed $20,000.

The council agreed with general consensus to approve a liquor license for a Bushnell Fire Department fundraiser, 'Let the Sparks Fly' April 25 at the Rec Center.

In other business, the city will advertise for bids for land application of sludge from the East Lagoon.
