The Havana High School girls basketball team rolled to an early lead and cruised to a 68-17 Prairieland Conference South Division win over host Bushnell-Prairie City Thursday evening.
Havana, currently receiving votes in the latest Associated Press Class 1A girls basketball poll, improved to 19-4 overall on the season, 3-0 in division play.
The Spartans dropped to 3-17 overall, 0-4 in Prairieland South competition.
The Ducks seized control from the outset.
Kaydi Miller scored 10 points, while Ava Kramer added nine more as the visitors flew out to a 23-5 advantage after the opening period of play.
The second quarter saw six Havana players combine for 16 points as the visitors upped their lead to 39-11 at halftime.
The Ducks saw seven different players score in the third frame, chalking up 21 points as the visitors led 60-13 heading into the final eight minutes.
Justice Klinedinst topped B-PC with eight points. Mylee Chenoweth added five points and Jere Jones four, including a 3-pointer for the Spartans.
Miller and Kramer topped Havana with 20 and 17 points respectively.
The Ducks had 11 players finish in the scoring column for the visitors.
Saturday’s scheduled game against Ridgewood was canceled and will not be rescheduled.
The contest was originally scheduled for Jan. 24, but postponed by wintry weather.
The Spartans were scheduled to return to the road this week, starting with Monday’s contest at Lewistown (13-11).
On Thursday, the Spartans are scheduled to head to Peoria Heights to face the Patriots (0-26).
The two teams played Dec. 29 at the Princeville Holiday Tournament with the Spartans winning 41-37. It was the closest contest for the Patriots in any game this season.
The contest against South Fulton, originally scheduled to be played in Bushnell on Jan. 26, has been rescheduled for Feb. 11.
