Natalie Shelly of the Macomb Park District has been promoted to superintendent of ceramics and environmental education. Macomb Park Director Blake Severs made the announcement at last week’s Park Board meeting.
Severs told the Board there will be additional ceramics classes at Lakeview Nature Center from 8-11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In addition, three monthly nature programs have been scheduled, and monthly crocheting classes will also be offered.
The district’s popular Puzzle Wars contest is scheduled for Feb. 21, with the number of teams expanding from 20 to 30.
Teams will race to use a 500-piece puzzle, and the first team to complete the puzzle will be declared the 2026 champion.
The Park Board voted to elect Chris Frankhauser as district’s Freedom of Information Act administrator and to elect Severs as the Open Meetings Act administrator. District Treasurer Phil Weiss reported that the district ended 2025 with $610,192 in its consolidated project fund and $310,078 in its general fund. He added that a final payment of $132.914 in property tax revenue was received in December.
Park Board President Neil Armstrong presented a roster of elected officials and district employees going to the Illinois Association of Park Districts conference this week.
Armstrong also stated that the Macomb district ended 2025 with an outstanding overall budget.
