The Parent Mentor Program at Edison School is calling on the Macomb community to help their students through a Student Snack Drive aimed at ensuring children have access to snacks during the school day.
The initiative is designed to assist students who may forget to bring a snack or who do not have one available at home.
In many classrooms, teachers step in to provide snacks out of their own pockets so students can stay focused and ready to learn. The Snack Drive helps relieve that burden while making sure no child goes without.
Community members are encouraged to donate single packed, shelf-stable snacks that can be safely stored and distributed throughout the school year. Donations will be collected at several locations around Macomb, including Community News Brief at 13 E Side Square, United Community Bank branches at 430 W Jackson Street and 1700 E Jackson Street, and Edison School at 521 S Pearl Street.
All snacks collected will be delivered to Edison School on February 13.
Organizers say even small donations can make a meaningful difference for students and teachers alike. The Parent Mentor Program hopes the community will rally together to support Edison School children by helping ensure they have the nourishment they need to succeed during the school day. Residents interested in contributing are encouraged to drop off donations at any of the listed locations before the delivery date. If you wish to make a monetary donation, it must be in cash or gift card to a store where snacks can be purchased. For any questions, please email [email protected].
