Bryan Sworn in as Township Assessor

Macomb City Township Assessor Glenda Bryan was sworn in for another term Monday by Township Clerk Renee Lotz.

The township board held a public hearing on an amended 2025-2026 township budget. With money saved from 20242025, the budget totals $715,537. This includes an added $100,000 for the housing expenses of general assistance clients. Board member Dave Dorsett, a longtime foe of the separate township government, announced his support of the increase.

“This is not a good time for people,” he said of the economic environment.

The board also discussed adding another township office in Macomb City Hall to be used for private interviews with general assistance clients. As City Attorney Lisa Scalf’s office has moved to the first floor, Scalf told the board there is room for the township addition. Macomb City Township would pay the city $900 per month for office space in city hall.

The traditional township annual meeting was approved for April 14. Township Supervisor Angela Markley said seven general assistance applications were received this month.

Ten interviews were held in December, with eight applications approved and two denied due to not meeting income requirements.
