ROBIN’S
Hello Friends – January – the month of a hundred Mondays it seems – is kicking rocks here soon! We will finally be done with the longest month (or so it seems!), and then we get to February – the shortest month on paper, but often drags quite a while. I’m not wishing my life away, but boy howdy – sometimes it takes forever to get the year started and going on a good path.

Do you love to dance? How about kicking it up with Line Dancing?? The Bushnell VFW is hosting a line dance class on Friday evenings, January 23, 2026 through February 28th. What to expect: learn exciting line dances to a variety of popular tunes! Not just country – we’ll groove to hits from various genres! Meet new friends and enjoy a fun-filled atmosphere! Great exercise for all fitness levels.
Kind of like Zumba or Jazzercise was in the 80’s and 90’s.
And yes, I had to call my friend Tammy to remember what dance classes were called – I couldn’t come up with Zumba for a million dollars! Thanks, Tammy!
Check Valentine’s Day off your list for what to plan – the VFW has already got that set up for you and you won’t be disappointed! A delicious dinner served with all the trimmings. Prime Rib and/or Butterfly Shrimp, Baked Potato, Garden Salad, and Dessert. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. You may make reservations by calling 309371-7171. If no answer, please leave name and number for a call back. Make this a destination in your love story!
A repeat from a past column, but worthy of a reminder: Please remember that the Bushnell Recreation Center is a warming center if you need a place to recharge a bit and warm up. Trash pickup may be delayed depending on the weather – if it is, – be kind, it’s hard cold work and I know I don’t want to do it! The City Crews work hard to make sure our roads are clear and safe to travel. If they do not get it right away, I know they will get it done. Relax and let someone else worry about the roads. Deliveries are delayed – but it is not the driver’s fault! They are trying to make your holidays smooth – give them a break! Do not be snarky on the internet! If you would not say it to someone in person, keep it off the internet. Give yourself and others a rest – we all deserve at least that!
Reaching Hearts on Main in Prairie City is hosting an embroidery class that looks like fun – check it out! What a great hobby to refresh yourself on or learn all new! She also has a Bracelet Charm Bar class that looks like fun. You don’t have to go far to find the hidden fun!
Do you remember the “Taste of Home” cooking shows that were down at WIU? A local grocery story would sponsor it along with other groups and you would learn some new recipes, get some discounted food products, and have a fun night. Who would want to pull this together? I would help, but I’m sure there is someone that could make this happen! Somebody run this away and make a night of it!
“You’re getting up every day and making the effort to be better than you were yesterday. You’re confronting your flaws, your shortfalls, your reactions to circumstances out of your control and implementing steps to ensure your actions are more considerate toward yourself and others.
You’re in the midst of reclaiming your power. You are working on becoming the best version of yourself. This path will lead you somewhere great.” – Samira Vivette Be kind and happy-Robin Wilt
