Macomb High wrestlers Ethan Hoyt and Jeshua McPheeters recorded third place finishes in their respective weight classes at the 2026 Rollie Platt/Ron Rush Quincy Invite that wrapped up Saturday.
As a team, the Bombers finished 14th out of 18 teams with a score of 45 points.
Host Quincy High captured the team title with 234 points.
At 120 pounds, Hoyt finished third earning nine points.
Hoyt pinned Jacksonville High’s Axel Lauteman in 37 seconds and Pittsfield’s Hayden Thompson in 1:17.
He lost in the semifinals to Quincy High’s Wyatt Boeing by pinfall in 5:15.
Hoyt defeated Rozana’s Brayden Hendrix by pinfall in 0:40 to secure third place.
Also finishing third at 175 pounds was McPheeters, scoring nine points.
McPheeters won his first four matches, all by pinfall.
He pinned Jacksonville’s Hayden Greenia (0:48), Alton’s Westyn Pruitt (1:05), Pittsfield Leaf DeJaynes (0:31) and East Peoria’s Gabe Del Toro (3:09).
McPheeters was defeated by Mascoutah’s Jordan Sonon-Hale by pinfall in 4:48 before posting a 12-4 major decision over Quincy High’s Jayden Wilson.
At 138 pounds, Kyler Miller posted a 1-3 record.
He was pinned by Quincy High’s Preston Sturhahan in 1:58 and Mt. Vernon’s Gavin Gilliams in 3;15.
Miller defeated Roxana’s Zane Schultz by injury default before dropping a 9-6 decision to QND’s Oliver Bruns in sudden victory.
At 285 pounds, Riley James posted a 1-5 record.
James was pinned by Eli Zanger of the Quincy High JV in 0:37 and Pittsfield’s Hunter Waters in 0:25.
He was also pinned by QND’s Caleb Zook in 0:20 and Pittsfield’s Elijan Terpstra in 1:14.
James was awarded a victory by medial forfeit over West Hancock’s Brayden Hall before being pinned by Kevin Alverado of the Quincy High JV in 1:45.
At 106 pounds, Jonathon Bullock posted an 0-4 record.
Bullock lost by pinfall to Alton’s Roman Alm (0:16), Quincy Notre Dame’s Ethan McEntee (0:43), Quincy High JV’s Josiah Johnson (1:53) and Cahokia’s Curtis Johnson (2:47).
At 165 pounds, Johnny Powell posted an 0-4 record.
Powell was pinned by Cahokia’s Alique Walton in 2;53 before being defeated by Pittsfield Jake Oitker by technical fall (17-2, 3:10).
He was defeated by Quincy High JV’s Carter Steinhauser by a 17-7 major decision before being pinned by West Hancock's Ashton White in 4:14.
At 157 pounds, Tremaine Beal-Simpson posted an 0-5 record.
Beal-Simpson was pinned by Pittsfield’s Lucas Frieden (0:54), Quincy High’s Ethan Paul (0:28), QND’s Isaac Steinkamp (1:36), Quincy High JV’s Ethan Wells (1:15) and a second time by Steinkamp (3:15).
The Bombers return to action Tuesday, heading to Jacksonville for competition with Jacksonville High and Quincy Notre Dame.
