Spartans Defeated By Farmers, Wildcats

The Bushnell-Prairie City High School boys basketball team headed to Farmington on Jan. 13 for a non-conference contest, dropping a 55-36 decision to the host Farmers.

Farmington led 14-8 after the opening quarter and 30-23 at halftime.

The Farmers seized command of the contest in the third frame, outscoring the Spartans 19-6 in building a 49-29 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Connor Palm topped B-PC with 15 points along with five rebounds.

Braylon Griffitts was next with eight points, followed by De’Arion Ruffin-Thomas with five.

Ruffin-Thomas also had six rebounds and three assists, while Griffitts added four rebounds.

Christian Graybill and Ryan Adler chipped in three points each, followed by John Malda with two.

Dylan King did not score, but pulled down six rebounds for the Spartans.

Logan Gardner and Noah Howell topped Farmington with 19 and 13 points respectively.

On Saturday, the Spartans hosted Galva, dropping a 63-25 decision to the visiting Wildcats.

Graybill topped B-PC with eight points and five rebounds, while Palm added five points and three rebounds.

Logan Ash, Ruffin- Thomas, King, Adler, Thomas Anderson and Malda all scored two points apiece.

Ruffin-Thomas had a team-leading seven rebounds, while A added five rebounds and King four for the Spartans.

B-PC slipped to 2-13 overall. The Spartans return to Prairieland South Division play Tuesday against visiting West Prairie (17-4, 1-1). B-PC is 0-2 in conference play.

The Spartans will then head to Havana for another conference contest Friday evening.
