The Rev. Carolyn C. Blair, an international and national preacher, will be the keynote speaker for the 2026 Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration at Macomb's Mt.
Calvary Church of God in Christ Monday, Jan. 19.
'Building a Community, Uniting a Nation' will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Calvary, 1500 E. Pierce St. Following the program, a free dinner will be offered for dine-in or carry- out from noon-2 p.m.
'While we will not be holding a public march this year, we'd like to invite everyone to attend the program to hear the Rev. Carolyn C. Blair's inspirational message,' said Assistant Pastor Allen Henderson.
Blair, who was born and raised in the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.), currently serves as the interim pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, Burlington, IA. She is also the co-pastor and co-director of The Ubuntu Project Ministry for Inclusivity (TFAM)/the Ubuntu Project Inc., which provides spiritual and technical assistance to communities engaged in strengthening support for special needs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)/ mental illness (MI), at-risk children and their families.
The Rev. Blair currently serves on the United Church of Christ's Mental Health Network Board of Directors; is a board member of the Burlington NAACP and is a member of the Burlington Police Chaplains. She also serves as Lt.
Gov. of Kiwanis, District 18, Illinois - Eastern Iowa, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Burlington Kiwanis Club and the Downtown Burlington Partnership.
