211 W. Hess Street – Bushnell
Jacob Hoover of Bushnell, IL built his residence himself in 1886. Hoover owned the entire square block. Jacob was the son of Samuel and Sarah Hoover and was born near Snydertown, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in 1836. When a young man he came west settling in Ohio.
After some years he came to Bushnell, IL and on August 2, 1876, he was married to Miss Ellen Shreves at Galesburg, IL.
His wife died on September 26, 1897. He was at one time engaged in the hardware business under the firm named Hoover & Kelly. Jacob died on Monday, June 29, 1914. He was a faithful Presbyterian and is buried in the Bushnell Cemetery.
