Lundgren And Hyde Place At Crimsons Invite

Members of the Macomb High girls wrestling team took part in Saturday’s Crimsons Girls Invite at Jacksonville with two bringing home top four finishes.

At 190 pounds, Avery Lundgren posted a 2-1 record to finish third, earning nine points.

She defeated Karsyn Robinson of Normal Community West by pinfall in three minutes and three seconds.

In the semifinals, she was defeated by Brooke Stellhorn of Belleville West by pinfall in 3:48.

In the third place match, Lundgren defeated Patience Riggs of ROWVA/Williamsfield by pinfall in 2:27.

At 145 pounds, Dru Hyde finished fourth, scoring seven team points.

Hyde won her first two matches in reaching the semifinals.

She pinned Highland’s Sophia Elkins in 37 seconds before pinning Urbana’s JustUs Jones in 3:01.

In the semifinals, she was pinned by Carbondale’s Kyla Ford in 3:59.

In the third place match, Hyde was pinned by Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley’s McKenzie Miller in 1:14.

At 155 pounds, Aleigha Sharon posted an 0-2 record. She was pinned by Decatur Unity Christian’s Lillien Roughton in eight seconds before getting pinned by Decatur Eisenhower’s Tyanna Patterson in 41 seconds.

At 235 pounds, Jazmyn Nateras was defeated in both of her matches.

In her first contest, she was pinned by Andre’a Kirkpatrick of Belleville West in 12 seconds.

She was then defeated by Mahomet-Seymour’s Cailyn Jones by pinfall in 18 seconds.

Next up for the MHS girls wrestling squad will be competition at Canton with Jacksonville High on Jan. 10.
