The West Prairie/Southeastern high school girls basketball team scored 34 points in the opening period and never looked back in breezing to an 80-58 victory over host Galva Monday evening.
The Cyclones improved to 6-5 on the season, while Galva dropped to 2-9.
The contest was originally scheduled for Dec. 11, but postponed due to weather and road conditions.
The Cyclones bolted from the opening tip, building a 34-9 advantage after the initial eight minutes.
The scoring pace for the visitors slowed in the second quarter, but they still outscored the Wildcats 15-8 in building a 49-17 halftime advantage.
West Prairie/Southeastern maintained control in the second half as the Cyclones enjoyed a 65-39 lead heading into the final minutes.
Four players reached double figures in scoring for the Cyclones.
Madelynn Sullivan notched a game-high 22 points, adding four assists and three rebounds for WP/SE. Alivia Barkley added 15 points, five rebounds and five steals for WP/SE.
Two Cyclones recorded double-doubles. Payton McGrew scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. She also had three blocked shots. Teammate Kara Stephens tallied 10 points and a team-leading 15 rebounds for WP/SE.
Ashlynn Kelley narrowly missed a double- double as she finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
Josie Hodges scored four points and had a team-leading five assists, along with three steals and three rebounds.
Maicyn Shipman scored two points, while Eily Martin and Alaina Phelps each chipped in one free throw for one point apiece.
Martin and Addy Stanberry recorded two steals each.
The Cyclones return to action Friday as they head to Beardstown to play in the Lady Tiger Classic.
The No. 17 seed in the 24-team tournament, the Cyclones will face No. 16 seed Staunton (7-5) at 5 p.m. The winner will play a second game Friday, facing top seed Brown County (10-0) at 8 p.m.
The tournament continues Saturday and Dec. 29 before wrapping up play on Dec. 30.
