Employees and customers of McDonough Power Cooperative in Macomb gave back to families in need this holiday season, through a toy drive for WIRC’s Project Santa program.
WIRC officials received the donation of assorted toys on December 11. They say the number of toys will assist up to 20 children in the area who otherwise would go without gifts during the holiday season.
“Thank you to McDonough Power Cooperative and its customers for your generosity this year,” said Jamie Roth, WIRC Community Services & Public Relations Director. “Project Santa is supported by and is for the community, and we are thrilled they once again partnered with us to bring some holiday magic to kids this year.”
Project Santa provides approximately $125 worth of gifts and clothing to children from income-eligible households in multiple western Illinois counties. The program is funded through generous community donations and local grants. Donations are accepted year-round. Checks can be mailed or hand-delivered (preferred) to WIRC, Attn: Project Santa, 133 West Jackson Street, Macomb, Illinois 61455.
