Park Director Blake Severs told the Macomb Park Board last week about significant issues coming up. He said transfer of the latest bond issue should take place this week. Severs also noted that he attended last week's Macomb City Council meeting to witness the latest developments regarding creation of the city's new srategic plan. He said the plan should be developed over the next two years.
Severs said a fleet of 20 bicycles is being developed to encourage more residents to ride. He also said a World War II living history exhibit is planned for display in Veterans Park on October 16 and 17 of next year.
District Treasurer Phil Weiss reported that the district's consolidated project fund had a balance of $763,694 at the end of November, and that the general fund totaled $329,145. Weiss said the district received a fourth and final 2024 property tax payment of $132,913.
The park board approved a 2025 property tax levy for taxes to be paid in the summer of 2026. Board members adjourned to closed session to evaluate Severs' performance, set his salary, and discuss his goals for 2026.
