The Macomb High girls wrestling squad placed 13th out of 35 teams Saturday at the Joe Bee Memorial Tournament held at Lanphier High School in Springfield.
Macomb finished with a team score of 68 points.
Belleville West captured top team honors with 164.5 points.
Six of the seven Bomber wrestlers brought home top eight finishes in their respective weight classes.
In the 190-pound division, Avery Lundgren finished second, earning 12 team points.
Lundgren pinned Olympia’s Phoebe Knobloch in one minute and 17 seconds to win her first match.
In the semifinals, she pinned Vanessa Kelley of the Springfield High coop in 35 seconds to advance to the finals.
In the title match, Lundgren was pinned by Belleville West’s Brooke Stellhorn in 3:09 in settling for second place.
In the 145-pound division, Dru Hyde won three of her four matches on the day to finish in third place, scoring nine team points.
Hyde won her first two matches, pinning Granite City’s Adrianna Lacefield in 1:49 and Belleville West’s Akiya Jett in 1:26.
In the semifinals, Hyde was pinned by Toledo Cumberland’s Natalie Beaumont in 1:11. She rebounded in the third place match, pinning Mahomet-Seymour’s Diem Bryan in 1:05 in securing her third place finish.
Also wrestling in the 145-pound division, Megan Redding finished seventh, earning two team points.
Redding finished the day with a 2-2 record.
She pinned Jovana Stoiljkovic of Belleville West in 46 seconds in her first contest.
Redding was defeated in her next two contests, getting pinned by Diem in 1:26 and Sophia Elkins of Highland in 25 seconds.
Redding ended her day on a winning note by pinning Jett in 57 seconds to secure seventh place.
In the 235-pound weight class, Jazmyn Nateras posted a sixth place finish, scoring three team points.
Nateras had a busy day, wrestling five matches.
She was defeated by Mahomet-Seymour’s Cailyn Jones by pinfall in 36 seconds in her first contest.
Nateras won her next two contests, claiming a victory over Belleville West’s Lauren Chavis by default at the 4:00 mark. She then defeated Kyah Shewey of Paris 24 seconds into overtime.
Nateras lost her final two matches as she was pinned by Highland’s Nina Landmann in 15 seconds before being defeated by Jacksonville High’s Emily Sanders by pinfall at 4:18.
Wrestling at 125 pounds, Maria Hernandez posted a 2-2 record in finishing seventh, scoring two team points.
Hernandez won her opening match, pinning Jacksonville High’s Lily Jones in 3:54.
She was defeated in her next two matches, pinned by LaSalle-Peru’s Kiely Domyancich in 16 seconds before getting edged by East Peoria’s Izy Paranto by decision in overtime.
Hernandez ended her day on a winning note, pinning Pekin’s Emma Norris in one minute.
Wrestling at 140 pounds, Dana Kane posted a 1-3 record, finishing eighth, scoring one team point.
Kane opened her day with a victory by fall over Clifton Central’s Harmony Ford in 2:58.
She was pinned by Granite City’s Audrey Barnes in 51 seconds before also being pinned by Mahomet-Seymour’s Jocelyn Deedrick in 2:46.
Kane dropped her final match of the day as she was pinned by Bayah Good of Paris in 2:37.
Also wrestling for the Bombers Saturday was Aleigha Sharon in the 170pound division.
Sharon was defeated in her two matches.
She was pinned by Champaign Centennial’s Kayla Smith in 58 seconds before being pinned by Mahomet-Seymour’s Jaycee Weitekamp in 31 seconds.
Next up for the Bombers will be the Jacksonville High Tournament on Dec. 27.
