The board of Macomb City Township voted Monday to approve a tax levy ordinance for 2025. Taxes collected for this year will be payable in the summer of 2026. The total levy amount is $360,515.
In other business, Township Supervisor Angela Markley reported that 38 general assistance applications were reviewed in November. She said three were denied and decisions are pending on 11 others. Three men and six women were determined to be employable, nine men and 11 women have applied for disability, and four men and five women were determined to be medically exempt from employment. Markley said $13,331 in general assistance was distributed last month, $9,681 of it for shelter expenses.
Township Assessor Glenda Bryan reported that she is reviewing tax exemptions as well as property additions or demolitions.
