ROBIN’S

Hello Friends – Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! It is getting down to the wire, I hope you are done doing what you wanted to get done and are ready to relax and enjoy the holidays your way. Normally, I would list upcoming events, etc. in the community. However – everyone has their own calendar and agenda – do what you can, how you can and try to enjoy some moments of wonder and joy through this season.

Our season is going to be different than before. My husband has been struggling with health problems since the middle of November. He spent approximately 6 weeks at The Elm’s where he received wonderful care and a step up in the right direction of our new lives together. We are navigating a road I did not think we would quite this early, but we are trying hard to figure out a new normal in our lives. Per the way things go with us, we have had many challenges – but the folks in our community have really stepped up and helped us out when we needed an extra hand. From the furnace going out to patches in our roof and bills we did not anticipate – it’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I think we have a path carved out to travel. Our bright spot is that our kids in Texas will be here for a visit and we cannot wait to love on them all. We don’t go all crazy with gifts at Christmas, but the food and family is what we focus on and boy are we ready!! We get to Facetime with the Texas gangs usually once a week – but those hugs are going to be extra sweet when they get here. Quite honestly, it’s been all we can think about. It’s the medicine that Mark and I both need and we want it all!

There have been so many losses for folks lately, and what an awful time of the year to experience a loss. It’s hard enough, but when you toss in a holiday – it truly just makes an impression that you never forget. Please, please remember to be kind to everyone – you have no idea what they are going through and just a small kindness from a stranger can make all the difference in the world.

Please remember that the Bushnell Recreation Center is a warming center if you need a place to recharge a bit and warm up. Trash pickup will be later than usual – be kind, it’s hard cold work and I know I don’t want to do it! The City Crews work hard to make sure our roads are clear and safe to travel. If they do not get it right away, I know they will get it done. Relax and let someone else worry about the roads. Deliveries are delayed – but it is not the driver’s fault! They are trying to make your holidays smooth – give them a break! Do not be snarky on the internet! If you would not say it to someone in person, keep it off the internet. Give yourself and others a rest – we all deserve at least that!

“When you fill your mind with thoughts of kindness, love, faith, hope & Joy, your reality will become all of these things. You will start to see kindness in the world. You will start to feel love as you go about your day. You will notice more of the little joys of life. You have tried listening to your fears and doubts and they’ve never brought you happiness. It’s time to start choosing love. It’s time you start choosing faith.” – nikki banas If it is a possibility – try to start a new tradition for yourselves and your family for the holidays. It does not have to be a big tradition – sometimes the smallest gift is the best one ever! Something you can build on that will bring a smile to your face. It’s important – try to make it happen if possible!

Be safe and happy, we care. Robin Wilt
