Paul D. Howerter, 81, of Bushnell, Illinois, passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born July 16, 1944, in Macomb, IL, to Henry and Maxine (Bankes) Howerter. He married Marcia A. Wolf in Good Hope, IL, on December 15, 1963. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl L. (Dean) Thomas of Plymouth, IL, and Rachel A. (Jamie) Havens of Quincy, IL; two grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alan L. Howerter.
Paul worked at Vaughan & Bushnell, retiring after a 44-year career. He enjoyed camping and taking leisurely drives through the countryside in his golf cart. Paul had a special fondness for all animals. Above all, family was most important to him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Havens officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bushnell Township Cemetery.
