Planning Commission Recommends Side Yard Parking

The Macomb Planning Commission voted unanimously last week to recommend a special use allowing front and side yard parking at 410 Candy Ln.

According to Community Development Director Miranda Lambert, heavy rains are washing the driveway gravel down the culvert, creating a dangerous situation. Property owner John Cullen told the Commission he would like to expand the driveway and pave it with asphalt. Lambert noted there is an Ameren power pole next to the property culvert, and a condition of the special use would be for Cullen to consult with the utility company. City Attorney Lisa Scalf added the driveway could be expanded up to six feet either north or south.

'This gives him an option,' she said.

The Macomb City Council will discuss the commission recommendation at its meeting Dec. 22 and make a final decision Jan. 6.
