We Are Community...

A really big Thank You to all the people who worked so long to put on “Christmas in Plymouth”. Saturday started with Breakfast With Santa at the PCCC sponsored by the Plymouth Old Settlers group. The hall was filled from 9 am till almost 11 when I had to leave to get ready to open my store. Santa had helpers including Jordan Hawes who is running for Sheriff. There were gifts for all the children and I saw one youngster really loving a stuffed animal he had received. They were so cute. As well as serving breakfast, the group made cookies for many of the people in Plymouth. That was very kind and very much appreciated. Santa arrived on a fire truck I believe and could also be seen later in the Light Parade.

The American Legion had a soup supper and served several kinds of soup and loose meat sandwiches as well as desserts and drinks. The food was great and there was a good crowd for the event. Thanks to all who came out for the supper. One could also find cookies and hot chocolate at the PCCC sponsored by the group who keeps the building up for use as a community center. There were also events happening at the library. The Light Parade had a live band playing on one float as well as other floats, fire trucks and lighted vehicles. The park is decorated beautifully and I believe the members of the Village Board were responsible for the decorations. Thanks to all who made it such a special day for Plymouth.

The Plymouth Village Board met on Wednesday evening. Subjects discussed included making a 5-year plan for the village and a suggestion that a Christmas committee be formed so that all groups could work together. It was also mentioned that there should be a business association for the betterment of the village. I mentioned that there used to be one but that it no longer exists.

Thursday there was an auction at the Lowderman Auction site. Only took my car so had to be conservative with my buying. Cold day but got some things for the store and saw several friends. Steak at Hy-Vee is a good way to end a Thursday in Macomb.

On the sad side of life, I learned that Dennis Hillard lost his home in a fire. Also, Bruce Morton of Bowen passed away. He had a long and heroic battle with health issues. He was a professional photographer and had written several books including those about Forgottonia. He will be missed.

Employee of the year goes to the kind young lady who helped me print my Christmas cards at Walgreens in Macomb. It used to be a simple process but for several years, has been a nightmare often taking hours or even days. Had cards ready to print within 10 minutes thanks to the great help. Not the card stock I would have liked but at least they did have card stock.

Hope you were able to get around despite the heavy wet snow and then the cold temperatures. Have a good week. Be kind to all. Scatter Kindness and Love and remember that Santa is watching you!
