State Rep. Norine Hammond (R-Macomb), Deputy House Minority Leader, has been named a 2025 Prairie State Policy Champion by Americans for Prosperity–Illinois (AFP-IL). Representatives from AFP-IL visited Rep. Hammond’s district office in Macomb on Monday to formally present the recognition and thank her for her continued leadership in Springfield.
AFP-IL’s annual Prairie State Policy Champion awards highlight lawmakers across Illinois who have demonstrated strong commitment to reining in government spending, reducing the state’s heavy tax burden, protecting homeschool families, and expanding educational choice for parents and students. As the lead House Republican budgeteer, Rep. Hammond has been a consistent voice for fiscal responsibility, greater transparency, and smart stewardship of taxpayer dollars. AFP-IL leaders cited her steadfast advocacy for responsible budgeting and her willingness to stand up for taxpayers, even under significant pressure from the majority party.
“Illinois needs more principled leaders like Rep. Hammond in Springfield fighting for Illinois taxpayers and reining in out-of-control government spending. Rep. Hammond has consistently prioritized fiscal responsibility over special interests, while also leading on AFP-supported legislation in the Capitol. Rep. Hammond is a conservative, commonsense leader and AFP-Illinois will help educate constituents on her dedication and service to the Land of Lincoln,” said AFP-IL State Director Jason Heffley.
Rep. Hammond expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to responsible, transparent governance on behalf of the residents of the 94th District.
