The Spartan Tip-Off Classic hosted by Bushnell- Prairie City High School, resumed Wednesday evening with a pair of contests.
The opening game saw Macomb outlast Illini West 48-44 before Abingdon- Avon completed its unbeaten tournament run with a 70-22 victory over host B-PC.
The high school boys basketball contests were scheduled for Nov. 29, but postponed by wintry weather.
The opening game saw junior Carter Havens spark a third quarter run for the Bombers, scoring 10 of his team’s 17 points.
MHS outscored Illini West 17-8 in the period to build a 37-27 heading into the final eight minutes.
A pair of free throws by Havens early in the final period gave Macomb its biggest lead of the night at 39-27.
But the Chargers battled back, getting within 46-44 during the final minute.
Bomber senior Drew Watson sank two free throws with 14.5 seconds left that set the final score.
Watson topped Macomb with 16 points.
Havens finished 12 points, all in the second half, while Nick Elbe also reached double figures, scoring 10.
Nolan Hoge added eight and Isaac Leinbach added two for Macomb finished tournament play in second place with a 4-1 record.
Wesley Robertson topped Illini West with nine points. The Chargers finished tournament play in third place with a 3-2 record.
The evening’s second game saw A-Town, which had already clinched the tournament title, complete play unbeaten in defeating the host Spartans.
The Tornadoes stormed out to a 17-5 lead after the opening eight minutes on the way to building a 37-14 halftime lead.
A-Town (5-0) led 63-21 entering the final period.
De’Arion Ruffin-Thomas, Braylon Griffitts and Ryan Adler scored five points apiece for B-PC, who completed tournament play winless in five games.
Connor Palm added four points for the Spartans.
Ayden Stromson topped A-Town with 17 points.
Tre Kenon added 12 and Ryker Darst 10 for the Tornadoes.
Members of the all-tournament teams were also announced following each contest.
Watson and Hoge from Macomb, along with Robertson from Illini West were selected. In addition, Darst and Alex Foutch from A-Town, along with West Prairie’s Braden Copeland were also named.
The tournament was scheduled to wrap up Thursday evening with the final two games.
The West Prairie and B-PC JV squads began the evening before West Prairie and Illini Bluffs battled in varsity play.
Both squads entered their final game of tournament play with 1-3 records.
