At the Colchester Area Historical Society November 17 meeting, Cheryl Douglas, a special feature writer for Community News Brief, presented an informative program about St. Francis Hospital history. The presentation highlighted the construction and opening in 1903, the establishment of its nursing school, stories of several individuals who worked at the hospital, and closure of the hospital in 1967. Individuals interested in reading the St. Francis Hospital articles written by Cheryl Douglas, may obtain copies of the relevant issues by purchasing the newspapers at the Community News Brief office. Members voted to change the schedule of future meetings to the second Tuesday of April, July, September, and November.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026 and will take place at Colchester City Hall Community Room located at 500 East Roberts St.
