To pay tribute her late mother, as well honor her service on the McDonough District Hospital (MDH) Board of Directors, a local woman and her husband's donation to MDH has brought the once defunct second-floor patio back to life.
According to MDH Foundation Director Brittany Moore, Kathy Neumann and Marty Maskarenic have donated funds to restore the second-floor patio at MDH, which has been out of service for several years.
'Kathy and Marty approached us about renovating the patio so that it could once again be available for patients and staff to enjoy,' Moor added. 'We are so grateful for the generosity of Kathy and Marty in making these improvements at MDH. Their support enhances both the patient experience and employee satisfaction.'
In addition to funding the updates to make the space usable once again, the couple also donated new furniture. Moore added the patio has been well-received by staff, who now have a place to step outside, enjoy some fresh air and recharge during the day.
'My mother and I both had stays at MDH at various times in the past, and we both appreciated the opportu- nity to spend some time outside during our stays,' Neumann shared. 'Marty and I wanted to help make that possible for other patients and for MDH employees.'
The space will be open to monitored patients beginning in Spring 2026.
