Bloom Macomb: A Year in Review

Since opening its doors on December 2, 2024, Bloom Macomb has blossomed into far more than a flower shop. It has grown into a hub of creativity, mentorship, and community connection in Macomb.

Proudly led by owner Anne Ingersoll, Bloom Macomb thrives under her vision of blending artistry with community impact.

Ingersoll also serves as a CEO Mentor, guiding young entrepreneurs and students in leadership and business development. Beyond her work within the shop, she offered a LIFE Class this fall and is a member of both Macomb Beautiful and the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, reflecting Bloom’s desire to deepen the ties within the local community.

In less than a year, Bloom Macomb has successfully hosted over ten hands-on floral workshops, with more scheduled each month, offering both beginners and hobbyists a chance to create, learn, and grow. The shop has also invested in the community, donating labor and products to several local causes throughout the year, and participated in the judging at the 4-H Fair this past summer.

Partnerships are at the heart of Bloom’s mission.

This spring, Bloom collaborated with Crafty Coop to create custom floral gifts for Mother’s Day, and recently welcomed a student from the Macomb Youth Leadership Program (MYLO) for a job shadowing experience.

Bloom also partnered with the Western Illinois University Agriculture Department to support plant propagation and soil science to give students an opportunity to learn while also supporting a local business, deepening the shop’s connection to education.

Another one of Bloom Macomb’s core values is sustainability. The shop follows eco-friendly practices like composting and repurposing stems for card holders and workshop materials.

This commitment to waste reduction led to accepting over 200 donated vases from community members.

Bloom also circulates a Traveling Kindness Vase, a Haeger Pottery vase filled with flowers, passed between local businesses free of charge to spread kindness throughout the Macomb community.

Bloom serves as a champion for creative entrepreneurship by supporting nearly ten local artists, showcasing and selling their work in the shop.

The business has become a learning hub since its opening by mentoring three WIU student interns and one ROYALS work-study student, providing hands-on experience in floral design, plant and soil care, and small business operations.

Community outreach has become a pillar of Bloom Macomb, with participation in the Adopt-A-Classroom program at Lincoln Elementary and hosting two Adopt-A-Grandparent events, bringing joy and connection to both seniors and young students alike.

Beyond beautiful blooms, Bloom Macomb takes pride in offering expert plant care and personalized support.

The shop provides fresh, unique arrangements yearround, with delivery services for special occasions, seasonal celebrations, weddings, funerals, and everyday moments like birthdays and anniversaries.

As Bloom Macomb enters its second year, its roots in the community continue to deepen, built on kindness, creativity, and a mission to make Macomb bloom from the inside out. This winter, we invite you to step out of the cold and into a space filled with warmth, growth, and inspiration. Whether you're looking for the perfect gift, a creative escape, or a moment of calm among the flowers, we’d love to welcome you.

To celebrate our first anniversary, as a token of our gratitude for helping us grow, every in-store purchase of $20 or more will receive $5 in Bloom Bucks.

Come visit us in December and let’s continue to bloom together.
