Stan and Marybeth Speer placed a wreath at St. Paul's Cemetery this week to honor 30 Sisters who worked at St. Francis Hospital during its 66-year operation in Macomb.
The gesture followed a suggestion by writer Cheryl Douglas, who recently authored a series about the hospital for the Community News Brief.
The Sisters are buried at the cemetery after dedicating their lives to patient care at St. Francis Hospital, which operated from 1901 to 1967.
