This morning a McDonough County Jury found a Coal Valley, Illinois man, Roman Rodriguez- Parra Jr., age 29, guilty for the Predatory Criminal Assault of a 3 year old child in 2022. Circuit Judge Nigel Graham ordered Rodriguez- Parra Jr. to be detained following the verdict, as he had been out of jail on pre-trial release up until today and the crime for which he was convicted of requires a mandatory prison sentence to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Rodriguez-Parra Jr. faces a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 60 years when he is sentenced on January 22, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. Per Illinois law Rodriguez-Parra Jr. must serve 85% of his prison sentence, and he will be on parole for 3 years to life when he is released and will have to register as a child sex offender for the rest of his life.
