810 West Piper Street – Macomb
This home was originally the home of John and Betsy Norton and built circa 1868.
John was born in December 26, 1810 in Ireland and was the father of Norton Brothers grocery merchants of Macomb. Their children were Kate, Minnie, John G., Edward J. and Jennie. John was a gardener/farmer and died November 2, 1887. The Norton’s were devoted Catholics with John and Betsy being buried in the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
The home was later occupied by Clarence B. McKee in the late 1920s. This home was demolished and a new structure was built on the property.
