The Family Dollar store will close sometime in January after the company decided not to renew its lease, leaving employees without jobs just months after the store dropped its Dollar Tree merchandise.
'We were completely shocked,' said assistant store manager Tonya Campbell. 'Nobody saw this coming, especially after we just went through the transition from Dollar Tree.'
Campbell said employees were notified last week that the store would close. The store, which opened in July of 2023 in a new building on Route 9 across from a newly constructed DG Market, is currently offering storewide discounts up to 30% as it prepares to close. Additional markdowns are expected as the closing date nears.
