We Are Community...

Can’t decide if my heart hurts or my stomach. The awful news that the Hotel Nauvoo is closing permanently hit the media this week. Have been going there so long that I remember when it was family style. My husband took me there for birthday celebrations and since he passed have gone there for my birthday with anther friend. Will certainly miss the cinnamon rolls, the cat fish and the ribs. I do wish the family the best in retirement and hope that someone will buy the property and start new traditions in the wonderful buildings.

The Plymouth Circle Bazaar is this Saturday, November 22 from 9 am to 4 pm at the PCCC located just west of the Plymouth Square. There will be all sorts of crafts, soup by the quart, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods and more.

The funds raised will go toward keeping the building open for activities such as weddings, family gatherings, parties and more. It is a lovely facility with a chapel or activity room complete with a full kitchen. The Circle group also helps with community needs. Please come and support our Center.

The big news this week was the Northern Lights. As I have mentioned, I do remember seeing them more frequently when I was growing up on the farm. It was likely much darker in the country. Also, less pollution. But now we seldom see them so this week was exciting. Got great photos from all around the area from friends. Though I went out both nights, I only got red blobs on Tuesday and nothing on Wednesday. Thanks to all who shared such wonderful photos with me and on face book.

Since we had two really warm days, I have noticed that quite a few people took advantage and put up Christmas lights. Even saw a Christmas tree through a window.

Actually, I took down my large tree because Sal partially destroyed it and ate many of the hand made ornaments.

Our children!

Bought a ticket for the Mega Millions drawing this week.

Got one number correct-the mega ball so I think I won $2.

The ticket was $5 but at least I won something.

Got my flu shot on Monday and had no reaction.

Actually, forgot about it until I rolled onto that arm while sleeping. Think flu shots are a good idea. Also, if you get it at Hy-Vee, you get a 20-cent fuel saver so they actually pay you to get the shot. Can’t beat that.

I have a glass back door and noticed a large racoon climbing the kitty ladder to reach the higher levels of the kitty house. Put out my live trap again and last night it ate two marshmallows without tripping the trap. Will try again.

Mowed some leaves on Friday morning. More to do but don’t want them getting wet and smothering what little grass I have. Wonder if they smother creeping Charlie.

Hope you have a good week. Come shop the Bazaar.

Scatter Kindness and Love.
