Bushnell Women’s Club met Monday, November 10, 2025 at 7 p.m. at Tellers to a meeting room decorated in a fall/ Thanksgiving theme. Eighteen ladies answered roll call to “What is your favorite Thanksgiving Pie: Pumpkin, Pecan or other. Ashtyn Chandler was the speaker. Ashtyn is the new owner of Bushnell’s only flower shop, Chandler’s Florist. She is an Iowa State graduate and comes from the Monmouth area. She has always loved plants and flowers and when the opportunity arose to purchase the Flower Junction from Mary Mendenhall, she bought it. She has lots of plans to expand the business. She wants to add a gift shop along with her floral and plant arrangements. She showed the ladies pictures of weddings she has arranged flowers for that revealed how talented she is.
After the program, JoEllen Pensinger, president, called the meeting to order. Jada Wetzel and Ruth Ann McGrew gave secretary and treasurer’s reports, respectively. Linda Raby, Courtesy committee, reported she sent a sympathy card to Karen Evans and Thanksgiving cards to the Woman’s Club’s honorary members. Jane Zarello, Library Committee, reported the library will be hosting a Veterans’ Day event on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. There will be speakers and lots of memorabilia on display. They will be serving pie also. The ladies made plans for the VFW Holiday Craft show for their annual Cookie fund raiser. Linda Louthain and Gayla Syllivan passed everything the ladies needed for packaging their cookies&/or candy. JoEllen reminded the ladies there will be no meeting in January.
The next meeting will be Monday, December 8, 2025 at Tellers for a Christmas party. Hostesses are Carolyn English, Sheena Boden and Karen Cameron. Ladies were reminded to bring a grab bag gift.
