We Are Community...

What flies over one’s shoulder, inadvertently gets a foot in your hot soup, gets soup on your shirt, pants and turtle neck and then flies off the other side of the table- well flying kitty Sal of course. I wanted a sweet girl kitten to keep Puff company, instead I got the most outrageous male kitty. Waiting impatiently for him to outgrow the obnoxious youth years.

Puff does a lot of growling at him.

The first Wednesday of the month is the Plymouth Village Board meeting held in the new village hall-the former bank building. There often are several members of the community in attendance. That is good. People should know what is going on in the village. Everyone in the audience is given three minutes to speak if they have any concerns. One lady spoke of a concern with animals being treated badly in our village. The consensus was that since neither Plymouth nor Hancock County has an animal control officer that there was little that could be done. This is so wrong. Both people and animals need to be treated with kindness, have a decent place to live, enough food to eat and more. Another problem that occurred was with the audience. Each person is given up to three minutes to speak but should not interrupt during the meeting otherwise. I don’t think that some people realize this and were just trying to be helpful but the meeting needs to stay under the control of the village president and people in the audience should not interrupt the discussion unless asked to do so.

Got the last of the plants into the garage and filled all available containers with water to water them through the winter.

A big job done.

This week saw the Beaver moon when the moon was full and at the closest to the earth for the year. Beautiful to watch.

Some really good photos were gotten by friends. My phone does not take good moon photos or perhaps its owner just does not know the proper procedure.

Attended the Hancock County Historic Society meeting on Saturday evening. The program was given by the Standing Bear Council. It was most informative. They also gave each person there a nice booklet with information and a shell necklace. Very good attendance too.

Cold weather is soup weather. As I have mentioned, I don’t make good chili so I make black bean soup instead. Very easy as I have a recipe to follow. You might like to try this. Brown a pound of ground turkey with a chopped onion. When browned, add 2 cans of black beans, one can of whole kernel corn, 2 teaspoons of cumin, one jar of salsa, a generous tablespoon of minced garlic and two cups of water. Simmer in skillet or put into a slow cooker and cook for several hours. This is both healthy and good. Love to fix cornbread to go with.

Attempted to watch Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday evening but found that You Tube TV did not have ABC on their listing. Disappointing.

Have a good week. Am attempting to adjust to the colder temperatures. Make sure your pets have a warm place to stay and sleep. Scatter Kindness and Love.
