Local pet owners who are facing new economic hardships due to the current stoppage of SNAP benefits will have the opportunity to pick up items for Fido and Fluffy thanks to a local organization.
With the help of donors and volunteers, Epitome Dog Rescue will host a pet food distribution drivethrough in the parking lot of RP Lumber of Macomb from 12:30-1:30 p.m. (or until supplies are gone), Saturday, Nov. 8. Recipients must show their Link card to participate.
Items to be distributed include dog and cat food, and a limited supply of kitty litter. Individuals are asked to form a line and remain in their vehicles.
Epitome is currently accepting donations of both food items and cash to purchase additional items for Saturday's event.
Individuals who would like to donate can also drop off at the site no earlier than noon Saturday, Nov. 8. To drop off donations before Saturday, contact Epitome Director Angie LaFrance at (309) 331-4456 to make arrangements. According to France, if Saturday's event is a success, her organization will plan an additional drive for a future date.
