McDonough County Sheriff’s Office provides information involving an arrest for residential burglary and illegal use of a debit card.
McDonough County Sheriff Nicholas Petitgout has issued the following update regarding the arrest of Kari S. Derry, 52, of Astoria, IL.
A report was filed on October 15, 2025, as to the theft of a debit card. Detectives located video of several locations in Macomb, Illinois that the debit card was used illegally. During the investigation it was also reported several firearms were missing from the residence of the complainant.
Detectives travelled to Vermont, IL last week and recovered one of the firearms missing from the complainant. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the recovery and provided crucial intelligence in solving the case.
“We continue to work with our neighbors in solving crime and building partnerships with other sheriff’s offices throughout the state,” said Sheriff Petitgout.
The Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide updates as to this case and more arrests are expected. Derry was charged with residential burglary and possession of a stolen firearm; she was subsequently arrested on McDonough County Warrant 25CF195. Derry is currently lodged in the McDonough County Jail.
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
