Local author Tiffany Erickson will present a special storytime and book signing event on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 124 S. Campbell St.

Erickson will read from her children’s book *The Snack Thief*, followed by themed activities and snacks inspired by the story. Families can meet the author and purchase signed copies of the book. This free, family- friendly event promises a fun and engaging morning for children and parents alike.

About Tiffany Erickson Tiffany Erickson grew up in Vandalia, IL, where her favorite picture books all featured food. She fondly recalls reading a Strawberry Shortcake story about a picnic and another about a hamburger restaurant. Summer reading programs at her local library were highlights—likely because of the free ice cream cone coupons.

In high school, Tiffany volunteered at her school library and worked parttime at Evans Public Library.

“I loved writing stories and, admittedly, some truly terrible poetry,” Erickson said.

While attending Illinois College, she worked at Schewe Library but strangely didn’t yet see librarianship as a career.

After college, Tiffany earned a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois in 2006 and became a children’s librarian in the suburbs. She quickly fell in love with working with kids and the books around them. To keep storytimes fresh, she began writing her own songs and rhymes, sparking her passion for writing children’s stories.

In 2010, Tiffany and her husband moved to Macomb, seeking a smaller, quieter place to raise their family. In 2016, she returned to librarianship as the Children’s Librarian at Macomb Public Library District, helping nurture young readers. Erickson stated, “It was during this time, after the birth of my first child, that I started writing stories for children. I was so inspired everyday by the books around me, and by the little one in my own home, that I wrote about my own childhood dreams and fears.”

“The Snack Thief is my first published book, but not my first story. My daughters inspire me every day to write about the small and big moments of childhood. I left the library in July to pursue writing and motherhood full time—a rewarding new chapter. I’m grateful to live in such a supportive community and excited to share more stories soon.”
