Jack Luther Garrett

Jack Luther Garrett, 85, of Bushnell, Illinois, passed away at 1:33 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

He was born October 11, 1940, in Piedmont, Missouri, to Clorel Martin and Delia Anna (Leach) Garrett. Jack married Rolva Jean Runkle on January 18, 1963, at the Presbyterian Church in Prairie City, Illinois. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Pam (Andy) Jackson of Bushnell, IL, and Angela (Jimmy) Dahmm of Bushnell, IL; six grandchildren, Alexis and Nicholas Hunter, Emily (Tyler) Ebey, Erin Jackson, Kassi and Geoff Groff; two great grandchildren, Josalynn Hunter and Kaison Groff; one brother, Charles (Marsha) Garrett of Bushnell, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ivalee Garrett; four brothers, Clorel Junior, William Joseph, James Donald, and Kenneth Edward Garrett; and a daughter, Amy Groff.

Jack was a 1960 graduate of Bushnell-Prairie City High School. Following graduation, he began working for the City of Bushnell as a lineman. In 1967, he joined NTN Bower, where he worked for more than 35 years before retiring in 2002.

Jack was a proud volunteer firefighter with the Bushnell Fire Department for many years. He also enjoyed coaching softball and baseball, helping to develop young athletes, including his own daughters. He was an avid bowler and an even more passionate golfer. Jack devoted countless hours to Shaw Creek Golf Course, where he not only played but also helped build, maintain, and later rebuild the course. Above all, Jack cherished watching his grandchildren in their various sports and activities, taking great pride in each of their accomplishments.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Bushnell Christian Church, with Rev. Rex Featherlin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
