Every October, the Marjorie Connor Spirit Award is presented by her family, to a participant of the MCSRA and Special Olympics athlete. Marjorie Connor was a participant and Special Olympics athlete through the MCSRA. She exhibited the values of MCSRA and Special Olympic Athlete, including but not limited to, a positive winning attitude, team spirit, passionate about her athletic endeavors, and being a role model of behavior to the other athletes.
This year’s recipient of the award is Lynn Aten! Lynn Aten has showcased her positive winning attitude and sportsmanship between our athletes and other athletes in Illinois. She has been working these past few years to eat healthier and exercise more. This healthy lifestyle benefits her in her personal life, and when she is participating in MCSRA and Special Olympics events.
Lynn is always an active listener, ready to go, and never late for an event or program. This attentiveness shows Lynn’s dedication to MCSRA. The ceremony was a lovely exchange between the Connor family, MCSRA and MPD staff, and Lynn Aten’s friends and family.
