Bushnell Roundup

ROBIN’S

Hello Friends – Here we are – almost Halloween, quite a few furnaces have been turned on and the leaves are starting to fall. Winter is fast approaching, ready to take us into the next season. It seems to happen faster and faster each year – is that a sign of my aging?

Probably. Just wishing things would slow down just a bit so we can catch our breath and enjoy what is in front of us – the moments.

Halloween is upon us and there are activities in town and all around us happening, as well as trick or treating. Bushnell will have trick-or-treating the 30th and 31st from 5:30-8:00 pm.

The Christian Church is having a party this weekend, Saturday the 25th from 4-6pm in the Church parking lot. Free hot dogs with the works and lots of fun to be had. The VFW Auxiliary will host their trunk or treating on the 31st. Meet at The Depot at 5:30 to parade to the East Park for “Trunk or Treating” and end up at the VFW for hot dogs, chips, and a drink – all free of charge!

Please keep in mind: The child who is grabbing more than one piece of candy might have poor fine motor skills. The child who does not say “Trick or Treat” or “Thank You” might be nonverbal. The child who looks disappointed when they see your bowl might have an allergy. The child who isn’t wearing a costume, might have sensory processing disorder or autism.

The person who looks too old to be trick or treating might be developmentally delayed. Please be accepting, patient and kind. Kindness matters – no matter who you are or what your age is. It matters.

Donna Waller Coates contacted me a couple of weeks ago with some exciting news from the “Decade of the 60’s” class reunion held this past August. “The Decade of the Sixties raised $5000 at their reunion on August 30th. We are donating all of it to the B-PC High School. We are doing a veteran’s wall, with veteran's pictures down one wall and an American flag painted down the opposite wall. We need an 8x10 picture of veteran's that went to B-PC. We need their rank, where they served, their branch of service and the years they served. They can contact Donna Waller-Coates through Facebook for more information. We are also doing a couple other projects. One is the wall where you come into the gym. It will have something with Spartan country or Spartan land on it, not sure which one. We are also getting three large floor mats with the Spartan head on them and they will be placed at the entrances of the gym.” Please contact Donna as soon as you are able – they want to make sure they include as many as possible. What an amazing project and donation from the “decade of the 60’s” classes.

Congratulations to the JFL Team on another outstanding UNDEFEATED season! They played hard and were true to themselves. Our son learned so much in JFL. It is great program that helps the youth understand fundamentals and teamwork. They are looking to find someone to take over running the program in 2026. Please think about helping out our future program – it’s important and it matters.

“It matters. It matters that you choose to keep going, even though you want to quit. It matters that you open your heart, even though it’s been trampled on before. It matters that you don’t let fear of failure hold you back, that you pick yourself up and dust yourself off when you fall. It matters that you don’t let the world get to you and make you resentful or unkind. It matters, even on the days it feels like it doesn’t. It all matters because you do. You matter most of all.” saltandwhistle Stay safe and kind - Robin Wilt
