The Macomb City Council voted Monday to approve 11 more home rehabilitation grants for properties in the city’s East Side and Downtown Tax Increment Finance District.
Awards include: $5,000 to replace a door, windows and siding at 926 East Elm Street; $4,469 to replace windows at 1002 East Calhoun Street; $3,792 for porch replacement at 315 North Monroe Street; $4,950 to replace the porch and gutters at 714 North Pearl Street; $5,000 to replace windows, doors, and siding at 909 East Carroll Street; $5,000 to replace a door, facia, sofit, and windows at 530 North Dudley Street; $5,000 to replace the porch and windows at 1314 East Wheeler Street; $4,059 to replace a deck, steps, and door at 718 East Adams Street; $2,062 to replace a deck and repair the foundation at 440 North Madison Street; $5,000 to replace the roof at 318 North Monroe Street; and $5,000 to replace the windows at 503 East Carroll Street.
Community Development Director Miranda Lambert said $95,988 has been spent so far in residential rehabilitation grants out of $116,700 available. City Administrator Scott Coker added that $1 million has been spent on improving downtown businesses, with property owners contributing $600,000.
In other business, aldermen voted to concur with the mayor’s appointment of Nate Livermore to the Macomb Firefighters Pension Board.
Mayor Inman began the city council meeting with a moment of silence in memory of Kay Hill, who served as an alderman from 2011 to 2013.
