Macomb FFA Alumni Host Backin’ the Blue & Gold Scholarship Auction Nov. 15
The Macomb FFA Alumni & Supporters will hold their 10th annual Backin’ the Blue & Gold Scholarship Dinner and Auction on Saturday, November 15, at the Spoon River College Outreach Center, [insert street number] E. Jackson, Macomb.
The evening begins with a grilled pork chop dinner and silent auction, followed by a live auction featuring a wide variety of donated items.
Proceeds from the event support agricultural education programs at Macomb High School and Macomb Middle School.
The Macomb FFA Alumni Association uses funds raised to provide scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education. They also ensure that no student misses out on FFA events due to financial constraints. Additionally, the group helps cover costs for student attendance at key leadership and convention events, including the Illinois State FFA Convention, National FFA Convention, Washington Leadership Conference, Ground Zero Leadership Conference, and FFA Leadership Camp.
Beyond financial support, alumni contribute their time and expertise by coaching students for contests and judging events hosted by the Macomb Chapter and Section 11.
Living up to their mission of “Supporting and advocating for Agricultural Education through gifts of time, talent, and financial resources,” the group offers a diverse selection of auction items to appeal to all buyers.
Donated items to date include: - A ride to school on a firetruck, donated by Macomb Fire Chief - Two athletic season passes from MHS Athletics - A $150 gift card and Alastin Skincare Eye Serum from Midwest Integrative Health - Whole or half hogs, processed, from Two Sisters, LLC (Mullen and Cain Butcher) - A set of GCI rockers from State Representative Norine Hammond - An airplane ride donated by Jamie and Matt McClure - Two $275 service and repair gift certificates from Dan’s Diesel - A custom-painted FFA mailbox with emblem from Old School Autobody and Tyler and Beth Carson - Various services and items produced by FFA members themselves Auction items can be viewed on the Macomb FFA Alumni Facebook page leading up to the event.
