As you may know the Brix Challenge is the easiest way to save lives and help animals in need in our county. All Brix Challenge donations raised during the month of October will be used toward the annual operational costs of the HSMC ($40,000-$50,000/ year, with need and costs continuing to rise). These funds are essential for us to continue providing our many services to animals in need and their families, as well as supporting McDonough County’s animal shelter in many ways. The month of October is passing by quickly and so far the BC25 is going great. Please help keep the momentum going throughout the month. Your support to date has been amazing and we hope together we can make this challenge the most successful yet.

The Brix Challenge:
• allows us to PROVIDE DIRECT SUPPORT to the MCDONOUGH COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER on an ONGOING BASIS.
Although the McDonough County Animal Shelter (MCAS) is run by the county (not the Humane Society of McDonough County) a large portion of our tireless work is devoted to our partnership with the county animal shelter.
Our support of the MCAS includes assisting with the care and socialization of the animals there while they await forever homes, promoting adoptions, providing sponsorships and fostering, helping with spay/neuter expenses, providing emergency medical assistance, making enhancements for the comfort of the animals at the shelter along with additional support as needed
• guarantees the CONTINUATION OF ONGOING SERVICES including financial support of spay/ neuter initiatives for community cats, assisting financially- strapped pet owners via our Pet Food Pantry, helping with discretionary emergency medical assistance through our Angel Fund, providing educational support to the community regarding pet ownership and so much more.
