The Macomb High varsity volleyball squad defeated Elmwood 25-22, 25-17 in a Prairieland Conference crossover contest at The Hangar on Oct. 16.
Stats for the Bombers included the following: Jordan Hines – seven kills and 11 digs Cadence Hotz – five kills and three blocks Jersee Mills – three kills, two blocks and six digs Brixley Lidaywa – three kills Emily Westerhold – seven digs and two service aces Jordyn Shoopman – five service aces and four digs Sophie Wilson – 17 set assists, six digs and two service aces Gianna Ramirex had seven kills for Elmwood (20-9).
Payge Ryan handed out 10 set assists, while Lia Hulslander finished with 11 digs for the Trojans.
The Bombers began a busy final week of the regular season Monday, hosting Liberty (20-9) for senior night.
On Tuesday, Macomb will host Mendon Unity (24-4) in its regular season home finale.
On Friday and Saturday, the varsity squad will head to Quincy to play in the Quincy Notre Dame Tournament at Quincy University.
On Friday, the Bombers will face Lincoln (15-14) at 2:15 p.m. and Decatur St. Teresa (3-17) at 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday morning, the Bombers will face host Quincy Notre Dame (23-5) at 8:30 a.m. before wrapping up tournament play against Breese Mater Dei (23-6) at 9:45 a.m.
Macomb will play host to an Illinois High School Association Class 2A Regional that begins on Oct. 27 with No. 7 sub-sectional seed West Hancock (10-14) playing No. 10 seed Beardstown (4-25) at 6 p.m.
The semifinals are slated for Oct. 28, with the West Hancock/Beardstown winner facing No. 2 seed Pleasant Plains (22-10) at 6 p.m.
The second semifinal will have No. 3 seed Macomb (17-11) facing No. 6 seed Pittsfield (18-12).
The championship match is scheduled for Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.
