Saturday Oct. 18 is the second national “No Kings” Rally. In addition to the WIU Homecoming Parade there will be a big national rally to protest the piece-bypiece loss of our democracy. Please join us in Chandler Park between noon to 3pm for the Macomb “No Kings” demonstration.
As a result of my comments to public Facebook posts I had brief conversations with two people I do not know. Both expressed their perception that Democrats hate our country and Democracy and want to destroy our Constitution. I responded to both people by stating that I usually vote for Democrats because they represent my perspectives. I told them “I love this country and I believe in our Constitution as the law of the land. I think freedom of speech and the Constitution are currently being challenged and disobeyed by government leadership. I protest because I am a lucky, peaceful person and want future generations to have an even better life than the one I inherited. I believe a strength of our country is that we are a melting pot of cultures, religions, and individuality.”
Maybe we should call it a demonstration rather than a protest rally. Indivisible will be in the homecoming parade demonstrating with humor against the sad, absurdity of our 2025 government. The McDonough County Democratic Central Committee will also be in the parade and will then join the crowd for the second “No Kings” demonstration in and around Chandler Park.
Please come out and demonstrate with us or engage in discussion about how you feel. October 18, noon to 3pm, Chandler Park will be the place to be.
