This home was built in 1896 for Mark F. Jacobs a carpenter and his wife Mary, with the firm of Fuhr & Chandler. The original cost was $4,500. Mark was born in June of 1837 in Indiana and moved westward to Macomb by 1860. Mark and Mary were both industrious in Macomb with Mark working with builder John H. Fuhr and Mary as a millinery and dress maker on the Square. The Jacob’s had two sons, Charles M. born 1865 and Walter born 1867. Charles eventually married and moved with his family to California. The Home still stands today and has been more recently been beautifully restored and landscaped.
