The West Prairie High School volleyball teams enjoyed a successful “Pink Night” on and off the volleyball court Wednesday evening.
Off the court, the program raised in the neighborhood of $1,000 for Linda’s Fund at McDonough District Hospital.
On the court, the Cyclones swept visiting Southeastern.
The varsity improved to 15-12 on the season with a 27-25, 17-25, 25-13 victory.
Niah Zimmerman led the team on offense with 12 kills, while Alexa Barkley added nine kills and Alyvia Barkley seven kills.
Madelynn Sullivan handed out 26 set assists.
From the service line, Macy Branch recorded 10 service points, including two service aces.
Alyvia Barkley and Madelynn Sullivan tallied seven service points each, while Abby Starbuck also recorded a pair of services.
On defense, Starbuck had 15 digs, while Alyvia Barkley had seven. Alexa Barkley added three total blocks.
The West Prairie JV squad improved its record to 16-2 with a 25-22, 25-20 victory.
The team was led on serve and defense by Madison McClure, Josie Hodges, and Kamara Zimmerman.
McClure chalked up five service aces and six points scored. Josie Hodges also recorded six service points.
McClure also had 12 digs, and Kamara Zimmerman added five digs.
On the offensive side Ashlynn Kelley had five kills to lead the way. Niah Zimmerman recorded four kills, while Alyvia Barkley, Kamara Zimmerman and Payton McGrew chipped in three kills apiece.
Hodges finished with 19 set assists.
On Saturday, the Cyclone varsity squad posted a 3-1 record in taking third place at the Riverton Fall Classic.
In pool play, West Prairie defeated Champaign Centennial 25-17, 24-26, 15-9 and Springfield Southeast 25-17, 25-13 before losing to Riverton 22-25, 25-12, 15-11.
In the third place match, the Cyclones downed Payson-Seymour 25-17, 25-19.
West Prairie statistics from the tournament included the following: Setting – Sullivan, 59 set assists Service points and aces – Sullivan, 27 service points with three service aces; Branch, 21 service points with eight service aces; Alexa Barkley, 18 service points with three service aces and Niah Zimmerman, 15 service points.
Hitting – Niah Zimmerman, 21 kills; Alyvia Barkley, 15 kills; Sullivan, 13 kills, Alexa Barkley, 10 kills and Jaycee Reynoso, 10 kills.
Defense – Alyvia Barkley, 26 digs; Sullivan, 25 digs; Starbuck, 24 digs and Niah Zimmerman, 19 digs.
Blocks – Jayce Reynoso, five total blocks and Alexa Barkley, 2.5 total blocks.
The Cyclones return to action Saturday at the Sherrard Volleyball Classic in Sherrard.
West Prairie will face Knoxville, 9 a.m.; Ridgewood, 11 a.m.; Sherrard, noon and United Township, 3 p.m. in the 12-team event.
