J. Doyle Lutz

105, of Good Hope

J. Doyle Lutz, 105, of Good Hope, Illinois, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at his residence.

He was born September 2, 1920, in Marietta, IL, the son of Ralph and Stella (Litchfield) Lutz. He married Adeline Bunt on August 6, 1947, in Colchester; she preceded him in death on January 29, 1969. He later married Eunice Mae Weber on November 27, 1981, in Walnut Grove; she survives.

Also surviving are five children: Ben (Cecilia) Lutz of Good Hope; Beverly Lutz of Good Hope; Jim (Mary) Lutz of Sciota; Robert (Debbie) Lutz of Good Hope; and Sherry (Hal) Gillette of Sarasota, FL; one niece, Luann (David) Smith of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Adeline, and his brother, Burdette Lutz.

Doyle was a lifelong farmer of livestock and small grain. He raised milking shorthorn cattle and bred Haflinger horses. He enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally, but especially loved horseback riding in the mountains. He was fond of reading westerns, loved to dance, and was known as quite the storyteller, sharing tales of family and days gone by.

He was a member of Sciota Christian Church, Parents Without Partners, Tri-County Saddle Club, and the Good Hope-Sciota Lions Club.

Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bushnell Veterinary Services Angel Fund or to the Retirement Home for Horses.
