Dale E. Firof

75, of Macomb

Dale E. Firof, 75, of Macomb, Illinois, passed away on September 25, 2025, at Macomb Post Acute Care Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 16, 1950, in Galesburg, Illinois. After graduating from Monmouth High School, Dale joined the United States Army in 1969 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.

On May 25, 1974, Dale married Susan Burger, and together they built a life centered around love, family, and lasting friendships.

Dale worked for various plumbing and heating companies throughout his career and was a co-owner of G&M Mechanical with two partners. He later served as the Building Inspector for the City of Macomb, a role he was proud of, before eventually retiring.

Dale and Susan were avid campers and spent many joyful years at Jack's Fork River in Eminence, Missouri, especially at Jack's Fork Campground. They cherished their time in the outdoors and the wonderful friendships they formed along the way. Dale made the best camp fires!

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Dale was also a hardcore Dallas Cowboys fan, never missing a chance to cheer on his team.

Dale is survived by his children: Chris (Esther) Firof, Mindy (Mike) Pilat, and Trish (David) Bromwell. He was a grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, with one more expected in January 2026.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan, his parents, his in-laws, his sister, and his cherished pets, most recently his faithful companion Cody Joe.

Dale will be remembered for his love of camping, his passion for football, and the many lives he touched throughout the years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral home, with military rites to follow. A graveside service will immediately follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg, IL with Pastor Carrie Carnes officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Dale Firof Memorial Fund.
