Ball Bros. Factory - Bushnell
Listed in the Bushnell 1910 City Directory at 476 E. Main Street, Bushnell, IL and owned by Ira Ball. Ira Daniel Ball was born March 4, 181 at Newark, N.J. He was educated in Newark, New Jersey where he learned the trade of carriage maker.
At the age of 19 he went to Newark, Ohio, where he worked at his trade for ten years. In 1947 he moved to St. Louis, MO, where he resided four years. His next location was Hannibal, MO, where he was engaged in business as a member of the firm of Snyder, Ball & Co.
This partnership continued four years. The three succeeding years were spent as a member of the firm of Fast & Ball of Canton, IL. In 1861 Ira Ball came to Bushnell and laid the foundation of the extensive business which eventually was conducted by his sons.
He married Anna Dean in 1844 in Ohio and had eleven children. Mr. Ball was a valuable citizen of Bushnell and died on January 7, 1906.
