The Macomb High and West Prairie High School cross country teams took part in the inaugural Western Illinois University High School Cross Country Invitational held Saturday at Vince Grady Field on the WIU campus.
The top 15 individual finishers in each race earned medals, while the top team also received a trophy.
In the boys race, Delavan took top team honors, finishing with a low score of 36 points.
Macomb High was second with 47 points, followed by Quincy Notre Dame (103), West Prairie (122), Farmington (124), Liberty (141) and South Fulton (146).
Macomb had three runners placing in the top seven, earning medals for their efforts.
Alex Simmons finished third overall out of 60 runners, posting a time of 16 minutes, 32.70 seconds on the three-mile course.
Jackson Petitgout was sixth (17:01.30), while Landon Richards was seventh (17:01.90).
Eymen Tadsan and Marc Simmons narrowly missed out on receiving medals, finishing 16th (18:05.00) and 17th (18:11.30) respectively.
Rounding out the results for the Bombers were Xander Merritt (21st, 18:30.70), Cohen Hunt-Twomey (22nd, 18:50.80), Thomas Ashwood (23rd, 19:01.30) and Grant Potteet (44th, 21:23.50).
Two runners for West Prairie earned medals as Ezra Bithos finished 11th (17:18.30), while Ayden Lacey was 15th (18:01.70).
Rounding out the results for West Prairie were Milo Rodeffer (33rd, 19:49.20), Ian Fentem (39th, 20:47.20), Mason Sorrells (49th, 22:09.30) and Jacob Foust (58th, 27:48.70).
Delavan’s Coriell Green won the race in a time of 16:12.50, while South Fulton’s Karter Chenoweth was second (16:29.40).
The girls race saw Macomb High finish fourth with a team score of 85 points.
Delavan took the team title, posting a low score of 32 points. Knoxville was second with 43 points, followed by Quincy Notre Dame (73), Macomb and Farmington (113).
The Bombers had two runners finish in the top 10.
Ella McKee was fifth out of 51 runners, completing the course in a time of 19:24.30.
Allexis Gray finished 10th in a time of 20:30.90.
Other results for MHS included Khloe Diggs (18th, 22:24.00), Leah Gorman (34th, 25:38.60), Laney Weaver (43rd, 27:28.10) and Jackie Rouse (45th, 29:04.70).
Brynlee Finch was the lone girls runner for West Prairie. She finished 20th with a time of 22:39.90.
Knoxville’s Emily King won the race in a time of 17:52.80.
